Zane Kalani Kuljian

kodak tmax 400 120 film.

This series of four images delves into stillness, familiarity, and the quiet tension between emotional closeness and distance. Shooting and developing medium format film is a deeply personal and meditative process for me – the time I invest in taking, developing, and printing each negative makes them all feel so special. I often discover a series’ underlying meaning after the fact, as I start to curate which images from a roll “belong” together and why they do.

Murder? I Hardly Know Her!  promotional photos

Over the course of 31 days on set, I captured behind-the-scenes and promotional photography for Murder? I Hardly Know Her!, a comedy murder mystery film shot on a college campus. Each character in the film has such a distinct, loud visual identity, and I wanted to capture each of them “in their element,” as well as as a cohesive whole, considering that they make up an iconic ensemble cast.
